Add another challenge to state water managers’ growing list: the US Geological Survey has released a study detailing toxic levels of chemicals in California groundwater. Many of these are traceable to—big surprise here—the agriculture industry.

While the über rich flout the availability of potable water in California (and elsewhere), the rest of us are cutting back and stressing out about the loss of wildlife habitat. Oh, and the Salton Sea might go away.
